Sunday's Message|13

Colossians 1:28-29

28 Him we preach, warning every man and teaching every man in all wisdom, that we may
present every man perfect in Christ Jesus.

29 To this end I also labor, striving according to
His working which works in me mightily.

‌       As we all settle down after celebrating Christmas and the New Year with long weekend break the days seemed to be just rolling along for all we know the month of January is almost over.

It is my prayer that we will never loose focus on the fact that we have been reconciled with God through our Savior and Lord Jesus Christ. Just like Apostle who never wavers in his desire to proclaim the Gospel, we too will proclaim that in Jesus Christ there is hope and salvation.
The verses found in Colossians 1:28-29 should remind us that we are to preach, teach, and be
able to present every man perfect in Christ. The task at hand is not an impossibility because it
is the Lord Jesus Christ who works in us mightily.

May our hearts desire it to be proclaimers of the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.
I know Him, I will make Him known.
God Bless.

Colossians 1:22-23

22 in the body of His flesh through death, to present you holy, and blameless, and above
reproach in His sight—

23 if indeed you continue in the faith, grounded and steadfast, and are not moved away from
the hope of the gospel which you heard, which was preached to every creature under heaven,
of which I, Paul, became a minister.

The reality of being reconciled to God through our lord Jesus Christ does not stop on us having
the assurance of eternal life. Our certainty should also cause us to be holy, blameless, and
above reproach in the sight of our Lord.

As we have learned on our many messages, we are already justified in Christ the riches in
heavenly places, right standing, and blessed hope are truths that a child of God has.

Let us all move forward this year, to be like Apostle Paul in his writings that we may all grow in
the faith, grounded, steadfast and not moved away from the Gospel of Christ.

And just like Apostle Paul may we all be ministers for our Lord.

As part of the body of Christ we are all ministers for His glory.
God Bless.

Colossians 1:19-21

19 For it pleased the Father that in Him all the fullness should dwell,

‌20 and by Him to reconcile all things to Himself, by Him, whether things on earth or things in heaven, having made peace through the blood of His cross.

‌21 And you, who once were alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now He has reconciled.

The new year is upon us, and it is time to make resolutions as we face the uncertainty of what the new year brings. Worries and troubles seems like the norm terms like inflation, interest rates, higher prices are a bother add to those worries are the news of earthquakes, wars, and other natural calamities.

The question is, will our resolutions solve the issues that is insurmountable or as believers of The Lord Jesus Christ we must never loose focus on who we are in Him.

The truth that In Christ we have been reconciled with Himself means we have peace, assurance, and certainty. The person of Christ in whom the fullness of God dwells can see us through our journeys.

A famous saying goes like this. We may never know what the future holds but we know who holds the future.

I am in Christ reconciled through the blood of His cross.

God Bless.

Colossians 1:15-16‌

16 For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. 17 And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist.

Continuing our message celebrating Christ the real reason for the season. Yes, we know that Christmas is about the savior who redeemed us by His blood, forgave our sins and has delivered us from darkness into His light (Col 1:13-14). And our last message we learn about The Lord as the image of the in visible God (Col 1:15).

Today we will learn that Jesus Christ is the creator, and all things were created through Him and for Him.

Since Christ created all things, He Himself is uncreated. The word for that introduces this verse could be translated “because.” Jesus Christ is the Firstborn of all because He created all things. It is no wonder that the winds and waves obeyed Him, and diseases and death fled from Him, for He is Master overall. “All things were made by Him” (John 1:3). This includes all things in heaven and earth, visible and invisible. All things are under His command.

Everything exists in Him, for Him, and through Him. Jesus Christ is the Sphere in which they exist, the Agent through which they came into being, and the One for whom they were made.

Christ is also the sustainer of creation (“hold together,” v. 17b). Christ is the Person who preserves and maintains the existence of what He has created. God the Father has delegated the administration of the universe to God the Son

“He is the principle of cohesion in the universe. He impresses upon creation that unity and solidarity which makes it a cosmos instead of a chaos.”

How wonderful it is that we know who holds the universe together.

Jesus Christ in Him we are certainty. He is the source, sustainer, and my Saviour.

God Bless.

Colossians

Colossians 1:13-14
13 He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love, 14 in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins.

As we reflect on what apostle Paul has written in the power of the Holy Spirit, Colossians 1:13-14, this gives us all the reason to offer praise and thanksgiving to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Christmas is upon us and yet the world celebrates it without the proper understanding as to what Jesus Christ has done for us. Christmas is about the savior who redeemed us by His
blood, forgave our sins and has delivered us from darkness into His light.

Let us not be drawn into the ways of the world disregarding the reason for the celebration (Jesus Christ) in place of the material things the world offers.

The reason we celebrate is we know the very reason for the season. Jesus Christ.
God Bless.

Colossians 1:10-11

       10 that you may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God;

11 strengthened with all might, according to His glorious power, for all patience and longsuffering with joy; Saints because of faith in Christ, so that we may bear fruit for Christ. This is our takeaway from
our message excerpts last week.

Today Apostle Paul will now explain what means when a believer is called a saint. To walk worthy, fully pleasing Him, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God; strengthened with all might, according to His glorious power, for all patience and longsuffering with joy; This are all results of who we are as saints and faithful and true in Christ.

On the contrary, the world teaches that for a person to be considered a saint He or She needs to do good works first then somehow or someone can decide if you are deserving or not to be called as a saint. Sadly this all go back again to a sinful man trying to act as God.

The Word of God is our basis not the words on men.
God Bless.

Colossians 1:2

2 To the saints and faithful brethren in Christ who are in Colosse: Have you ever considered yourself a saint? Most likely not, but as we go through our study of The Book of Colossians believers who are in Christ are called saints.

The city of Colosse is considered small when compared with its neighbors Laodicea and Hierapolis and a place Apostle Paul never visited yet it is commended as a place where saints and faithful brothers are located.
The question is how did they become saints? Are they given special blessings or are commended for good works? Most likely not. The only reason that they are called saints is their position in Christ. Similarly, we who are in Christ now are considered saints based on our relationship with our savior Jesus Christ.

Remember Apostle Paul and what he wrote:

Colossians 1:3-7

       3 We give thanks to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, praying always for you, 4 since we heard of your faith in Christ Jesus and of your love for all the saints; 5 because of the hope which is laid up for you in heaven, of which you heard before in the word of the truth of the gospel, 6 which has come to you, as it has also in all the world, and is bringing forth fruit, as it is also among you since the day you heard and knew the grace of God in truth;

Saints because of faith in Christ, so that we may bear fruit for Christ.

God Bless.

Colossians 2:9-10, Colossians 1:2

       9 For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily;

10 and you are complete in Him, who is the head of all principality and power.

To the saints and faithful brethren in Christ who are in Colosse:

Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

As we again journey our study of the word of God, we will now be going through the Book
of Colossians. The main theme is found in chapter 2:9-10, which is “We are complete in
Him.” Completion means lacking in nothing not because we are all sufficient, but the Lord
Jesus Christ is our sufficiency His life, death, burial and resurrection fulfilled the necessary
requirement for our salvation He has paid our debts final and full.

The joy of Christian living is not simply having a tag line “Christian” it is being declared saints
and faithful and true in Christ.

As we journey through the book may we all grow In Christ and realize that we really lack
nothing.

We are called saints let us live as one.
God Bless.

Galatians 6:14-15
14 But God forbid that I should boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom
the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world.

15 For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision avails anything, but a
new creation.

In our study on The Book of Galatians as we are going through its life application
(chapter 4-6) it is showing us that as a believer living under Law and the believer living under
grace are diametrically opposed to each other. It is not just a matter of “different doctrine,”
but a matter of two different ways of life. We must choose between bondage or liberty (Gal.
5:1–12), the flesh or the Spirit (Gal. 5:13–26) and living for self or living for others (Gal.
6:1–10).

Now he presents a fourth contrast: living for the praise of men or the glory of God (Gal.
6:11–18). He is dealing with motive, and there is no greater need in our churches today than
for an examination of the motives for our ministries. We know what we are doing, but do
we know why we are doing it? A good work is spoiled by a bad motive. 2
Are we motivated by the love of God or just temporary praised of man. We must remember
our life is to be a living sacrifice holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.
(Romans 12:1)

In my college days there is a popular Christian song, and a portion goes like this.
” Only one life and soon it will past only what’s done for Christ will last.”
God Bless.

Galatians 6:10

10 Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all, especially to those who are of the household of faith.

As we go deeper in our study of the Book of Galatians we have come to the point were in Apostle Paul by the work of the Holy Spirt is now telling us to apply what we have learned from previous four chapters.

Walking in The Spirit and not of the flesh is the main lesson we learned from chapter five as we move to chapter six of the book we are encourage to a Life of Service as an product of our Walking in the Spirit.

Life of Service emphasizes the urgent plea for us to do good to everyone. The question is “What does it mean to do good? Let me breakdown the answer. To our fellowmen to do good means sharing with them The Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ the greatest need of mankind. To our fellow believers it is to be a blessing and encouragement to one another. Let us remember the reason we do good is not out of duty or obligation but because of the love of God.

Loving God loving people!!!

God Bless.

Galatians 5 : 7

7 You ran well. Who hindered you from obeying the truth?

The Church in the province of Galatia started well in their walk with the Lord, but false teachers have convinced them that faith in Jesus Christ alone is not enough. Some were bewitched to believe that circumcision is necessary for salvation. Paul was reminding them that they were running well but somehow lost traction for they were hindered from the truth.

Same can be true for us now, many false teachers abound in social media, in so called Christian books, sometime in the songs that we sing. We should be careful not to be enticed by falsehood that will drive us away from the grace that God has bestowed upon us.

“Walk in the truth of God’s Word, not in the errors of this world.”

God bless.

Galatians 5:16

16 I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.

If the Holy Spirit controls the body, then we walk in the Spirit; but if the flesh controls the body, then we walk in the lusts (desires) of the flesh. The Spirit and the flesh have different appetites, and this is what creates the conflict.

Paul was reminding them (the Galatian believers and to us now) that there is an inner battle, The Spirit, and the flesh. We often allow our flesh or (our desires) to take the lead in our life and not The Holy Spirit that resides in us. This kind of life leaves us defeated and struggling in our walk as believers.

The solution is not to pit our will against the flesh, but to surrender our will to the Holy Spirit. We cannot win the battle in our own, we need to be led by The Holy Spirit. Being “`led of the Spirit” and “walking in the Spirit” are the opposites of yielding to the desires of the flesh.

“Christ died for me to remove the penalty of my sin, but I died with Christ to break sin’s power.”

 God bless.
